Wow- another stupid scam. I have no idea what their game is with this one, but legit companies do not hire random people through email. Technically, there would be nothing wrong with it since the hiree would be working on commission only- so nothing to lose.

Here's the thing though. Even if these people were serious, I wouldn't want to work for someone who cared so little about their employees that they don't even have them apply. You could do all that work and then have the company fold- or worse. Since they're based in China, they could just completely screw you as an individual and not pay up.

And really? After all the sh*t they're pulling in our markets (not following specs and manufacturing faulty products) not to mention all the human rights issues? Yeah, I'd really want to work for China.

This one was just bizarre. The body of the email came in a light blue box on the far right of my screen, with a photo of some people... praying? It was weird.

Then, while they're talking about my having been scammed in Nigeria (which I haven't), they invite me to look at photos? On a site that seems more or less like flikr or photobucket. Then they claim to be the British High Commission, but the photo site is copyrighted in India. Huh?

I haven't visited the listed website since I have an absolute paranoia about clicking links in obvious scam emails. But, yanno, that's just me.

Then, they contacted me again a few days later, but this time without the offer of pictures. Aw, I'm so disappointed!

But wait! She's so determined to work with me that she first emailed from Sierra Leone, and then 25 days later when she moved to India, she sent me her new email address. Aw. But really? Even if this were a legit offer of investment (which it so isn't), I wouldn't want to risk that much money with someone who doesn't even know the basics of business speak. Or spelling. Or who uses free, web based email.

While most of the phishes and spams that I get sound as though English isn't the author's first language, this one sounds as if an American highschooler wrote it. And I don't mean the straight A, spelling bee champ either.

The first paragraph is so convoluted that I'm not even going to try to piece it out except to say, subscriber to Microsoft Windows? Oh, dear dog. Like Yahoo would really make such a pathetic mistake! And all email users are being forced to switch to Yahoo Beta? Um, I hope they mean all Yahoo email users, and not all email users, cuz, yanno, I don't use Yahoo since they sell email information to spammers! They even tell you so in their TOS, and make it almost impossible to unsubscribe from that "feature".

Ranting aside, I'm not even going to point out that Yahoo would not be sending email from student.com, or that even if Yahoo UK were giving away 3 million Euros, that they wouldn't be sending it to an American. I'm not even going to ask what a "driven" license is.

And you know why? Because we all know that I'm a sucker for spam with pictures. Keep 'em comin', boys!

And, by the way, has anyone else considered sending these people spam right back? I mean, they are sending out these emails to just anyone! Make them work to find the suckers in the bunch! I've been posting samples of particularly funny (read: pathetic) spam or phishing emails (junk mail, or email specifically designed to get your information and/or money). What I've been noticing, however, is that those posts have attracted a lot of search engine traffic. People searching specifically for information that's contained in those emails.

It seems that while these people are well informed enough to be skeptical, they also want these emails to be true.

As I seem to have a never ending load of these emails, and a desire to not see any more people fall for these traps, I'm starting a blog, this blog, where I'll post most if not all of my spam and phishing emails that are not adult in nature. Simple spam ads won't appear here unless they're very funny.

Unless stated otherwise, any mail posted to this blog is junk. Avoid it. Trash it. Report it. Just don't fall for it.
